Java plum is the fruit of Syzygium cumini. The seed is the part usually extracted for supplements, and it is chemically distinct from the pulp: the seed is dominated by hydrolysable tannins, gallic acid and ellagic acid derivatives, while the pulp and skin carry anthocyanins.
