Aromatic saponin-bearing roots are conventionally combined in decoctions, and licorice is the usual sweet, saponin-rich partner. Both contribute triterpene glycosides with surfactant behaviour, which changes how the whole decoction wets and disperses. This is formulation convention, not a tested interaction.
Tannin-containing root preparations bind non-heme iron into complexes the gut does not absorb. Anyone taking iron to build status should separate it from a strong root decoction by a couple of hours. The effect is described for tannin-rich botanical infusions as a class.
Triterpene saponins lower surface tension and form mixed micelles, which is the same physical trick used deliberately with quillaja and other saponin extracts. In principle that can help disperse a stubbornly insoluble compound like curcumin taken in the same preparation. The mechanism is sound in a test tube. It has not been measured for this plant with this partner, so read it as mechanistic rather than clinical.
