Ge-132 is a bis-carboxyethyl germanium sesquioxide, structurally analogous to the silsesquioxanes formed by silicon. The two elements sit in the same periodic group and behave similarly in condensation and hydrolysis chemistry, which is why analytical methods for one often carry over to the other. No human study has measured the two taken together, so this is a chemical relationship and not a demonstrated nutritional one.
