Chiococca alba root has a long record of traditional use as a diuretic and purgative preparation. Any agent that raises urine or stool output moves potassium and other electrolytes with it. The size of that shift has not been characterised in people, so this is a monitoring point rather than a measured interaction.
The root preparations carry triterpene saponins and tannins, both of which bind non-heme iron in the gut lumen. That makes co-ingestion with an iron supplement a plausible way to lose part of the dose. No human absorption study exists for this particular plant, so the reasoning comes from the chemistry of the constituent class.
Saponins and tannins bind zinc in the same way they bind iron. A root decoction taken with a zinc supplement would be expected to lower the soluble fraction. This is class-level chemistry applied to a plant with no absorption data of its own.
Triterpene saponins are surface active and alter the mixed micelles that carry fat-soluble vitamins across the intestinal wall. Depending on concentration this can either help or hinder uptake of a fat-soluble nutrient taken at the same time. Which direction dominates for this plant has not been measured.
Traditional use of the root centres on bowel stimulation, and enzyme preparations are taken to change how food is broken down in the same compartment.
