- Suits people who eat few fresh vegetables and want a green leaf powder in the mix. Endophyte status is the thing to ask a supplier about.

- No daily amount is on record for human use. Start with what the label states, and have it with a meal containing fat so the carotenoids and vitamin K1 come along.

Why these belong in the same formula. Each row says what the basis is, from settled biochemistry through to a trial that measured the pair.
Lutein, beta-carotene and phylloquinone from green leaf need a lipid phase to partition into mixed micelles before they cross the intestinal wall. A grass powder stirred into water delivers far less of them than the same powder taken with fat. Any fat in the meal does this, and the MCT is simply a convenient carrier.
Lutein is a constituent of the photosynthetic apparatus in all green leaf, ryegrass included. A grass powder therefore adds to, rather than substitutes for, supplemental lutein intake. How much it contributes depends on harvest stage and on how the leaf was dried, since carotenoids degrade with heat and light.
Phylloquinone is bound in the thylakoid membranes of green leaf and grass powders carry it. That adds to total vitamin K1 intake, which matters for anyone whose vitamin K intake is being deliberately held steady on medical advice. Consistency of intake, not avoidance, is the usual instruction there.
Ryegrass stores levan-series fructans while chicory supplies inulin-series ones. The linkage chemistry differs, so the fermenting species are not identical, but both arrive in the colon as fermentable fructan. Stacking them raises the total fermentable load and the gas that comes with it.
Grass fructans and cell wall polysaccharides are substrates for colonic fermenters. Pairing substrate with organism is conventional synbiotic design. No specific strain has been matched to ryegrass material in controlled work, so read this as mechanism rather than as a tested combination.
Cellulose and hemicellulose in grass leaf are beyond human digestive enzymes entirely. Cellulase and hemicellulase preparations can partly break the cell wall and release intracellular contents that would otherwise pass through bound up. This applies to whole leaf powder and not to a juice concentrate, where the cell walls have already been removed.
Green grass powders are sold largely on chlorophyll content, and ryegrass leaf carries chlorophyll a and b as any green leaf does. Adding a chlorophyll or chlorophyllin supplement on top may be duplication rather than complementation, though the amount a powder contributes varies with harvest and drying. Worth knowing before paying for both.
