Indirect sympathomimetics work by pushing stored catecholamines out of nerve terminals rather than by making new ones. Tyrosine is the upstream substrate for that pool through the tyrosine hydroxylase step. Pairing them is a substrate-plus-releaser logic, which is mechanistic rather than clinically demonstrated for this plant. No human study has tested the combination.
Theanine does not block sympathomimetic amines, but it shifts the subjective texture of stimulation toward less jitter. Formulators use it beside stimulant botanicals for that reason. It does not lower the cardiovascular load, so it should not be read as an offset. The effect is on how the stimulation feels, not on what the amine does to vascular tone.
St John's wort raises synaptic monoamine availability through reuptake and enzyme effects. Adding a releasing amine on top pushes the same pool from the other end.
