Why these belong in the same formula. Each row says what the basis is, from settled biochemistry through to a trial that measured the pair.
Carotenoids compete for the same micellar and transporter capacity during intestinal uptake, so a large mixed carotenoid load can lower the absorbed fraction of any single one. Petal-derived pigment from an ornamental flower is unquantified, which makes the size of the effect impossible to state. The relationship is worth noting rather than acting on.
Beta-carotene and xanthophylls share absorption pathways and can reduce each other's uptake when taken together in quantity. Any carotenoid-bearing petal material adds to that pool without a declared amount. This is general carotenoid pharmacology applied to an uncharacterised source.
Carotenoid pigment from any plant source requires dietary lipid to form the mixed micelles that carry it across the enterocyte membrane. A lipid vehicle taken in the same meal raises the absorbed fraction. The oil is doing the work here and the plant source is incidental.
Ascorbic acid is the standard aqueous-phase antioxidant used to slow pigment and phenolic degradation in botanical extracts and infusions. It limits oxidative browning and colour loss during storage. This is a stability role in the product, not an effect in the person.
