- No dose figure is on record for linden. Traditional use is one to two cups of hot infusion in the evening, brewed covered so the aromatics stay in the cup.

Why these belong in the same formula. Each row says what the basis is, from settled biochemistry through to a trial that measured the pair.
Linden bract and chamomile flower appear together in evening tea blends across continental Europe, and both contribute apigenin-type flavones. The rationale is traditional and chemical overlap rather than a tested combination effect. No controlled human work separates the pair from its parts.
Melissa and Tilia are conventional blend partners, and both are used for the same traditional purpose. Anyone combining them is stacking two mild botanicals with a similar intended direction. The combination has not been tested against either herb alone in humans.
Valerian has a substantially stronger sedative reputation than linden, so in a blend it will dominate the effect. The relevant point is additivity: combining calming botanicals, or combining them with sedating medication or alcohol, stacks in one direction. That stacking is the thing to watch rather than any synergy claim.
Passiflora and Tilia both carry flavone glycosides and both sit in the calming category of European herbal practice. Their combined effect has not been isolated in controlled work. Read the pairing as additive in direction, with the caution that applies to any sedative-direction stack.
Linden flower carries mucilage, and marshmallow root carries considerably more. Mucilage forms a viscous layer on contact, which is a physical demulcent action and is the reason both appear in throat-soothing infusions. Because the mechanism is contact-based, hot water extraction and drinking volume matter more than the milligram dose.
Slippery elm and linden both work by physically coating mucosa with polysaccharide gel. Combining them raises the viscosity of the preparation, which is the actual variable at work. Note that a viscous preparation can also slow the absorption of anything taken alongside it.
Honey is the conventional addition to linden tea and adds to the coating effect on the throat. It is a vehicle rather than an active partner. Honey should not be given to infants under one year.
Tannin-containing herbal teas reduce non-heme iron uptake by forming insoluble complexes in the gut lumen, the same effect documented for black tea. A linden infusion taken with an iron supplement or an iron-containing meal will lower the iron absorbed. Separating them by a couple of hours removes the interaction.
Tiliroside, the marker flavonoid of Tilia, is a kaempferol glycoside, and quercetin glycosides sit alongside it in the flower. Adding isolated quercetin adds more of a compound class the herb already supplies. This is a dose consideration, not a new mechanism.

The slippery part works by coating, not by getting into your bloodstream. That is why the tea matters more than the capsule.
Hot water pulls out the soothing slimy part. Alcohol tinctures mostly do not, so a tincture and a tea are not the same product.
The flavonoids get taken apart by gut bacteria on the way in, so what shows up in your blood is not what the lab found in the flower.

Linden is the dried flower of a lime tree, no relation to the citrus fruit. How it is extracted decides what you actually get: hot water for the soothing part, alcohol for the flavonoids.

Harvested from Tilia cordata, T. platyphyllos or the hybrid T. x europaea in a short window at full flowering, mostly in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Wild and semi-wild collection is still the dominant supply route.
Flowers are dried out of direct sun to preserve colour and the volatile fraction. Over-drying and heat both cost aroma.
Water extraction carries the mucilage across. Alcohol extraction favours flavonoids and volatile oil and leaves most polysaccharide behind.
