Oat grass supplies chlorophyll, carotenoids and leaf minerals while spirulina supplies phycocyanin and a full amino acid profile. Green powders combine cereal grasses with algae because the nutrient profiles fill each other's gaps.
Chlorella contributes cell wall material and vitamin and mineral density that cereal grasses lack, while oat grass contributes leaf chlorophyll and fibre. The pairing is standard in green blend formulation.

Polyphenols and phytate in plant material bind non-heme iron in the gut lumen and form complexes that are not absorbed. A green powder taken in the same glass as an iron salt reduces how much of that iron dose is taken up. Separating the two by a couple of hours sidesteps the problem.
Grass leaf tissue is bound up in cellulose and hemicellulose walls that human enzymes do not cut. Milling the dried grass finely is the main way nutrients inside those cells become reachable, and cell wall degrading enzymes in a blend are added on the same reasoning. A product that wants the viscous fibre has to add the grain-derived beta-glucan separately. The two come from the same plant at different stages and are not interchangeable.

Ashwagandha is the better characterised of the two for supporting the normal stress response, and oat preparations are added alongside it in calm-focused blends. The combination has not been studied as a pair, so the rationale comes from each one separately.
Every chlorophyll molecule holds a single magnesium ion at the centre of its porphyrin ring, which is why green plant material contains magnesium at all. The amount delivered by a few grams of grass powder is small next to a declared magnesium dose. The chemistry is settled; the nutritional contribution at supplement doses is minor.
