Ornithogalum umbellatum bulbs contain cardiac glycosides of the cardenolide class, which bind the Na+/K+-ATPase at a site that competes with potassium. Low serum potassium increases binding at that site and raises the physiological effect of any cardenolide present. Anything that lowers potassium, including licorice or a loop diuretic, therefore matters here. This is a caution about the raw plant, not about a diluted flower essence.
Glycyrrhizin inhibits 11-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 and drives renal potassium loss with sodium retention. Falling potassium increases cardenolide binding to the sodium pump. Pairing a licorice-containing preparation with any cardiac-glycoside-bearing plant material is a recognised hazard in pharmacognosy. It applies to the bulb, not to a homeopathic dilution.
Cardenolides raise intracellular sodium, which slows the sodium-calcium exchanger and leaves more calcium inside the cardiac myocyte. High serum calcium amplifies that effect on contractility and excitability. The interaction is textbook for the digitalis glycosides and applies to the class. It is a reason to take plant cardenolides seriously, not a supplement pairing to design around.
Low magnesium impairs Na+/K+-ATPase function and often travels with low potassium. Both shifts increase sensitivity to cardenolides. Correcting magnesium is standard practice wherever glycoside exposure is a concern. Again this is class pharmacology carried over to Ornithogalum, not a finding in this plant.

These compounds block a pump that moves sodium and potassium across heart muscle cells, which raises sodium inside the cell and, through a knock-on exchange, raises calcium too.
Cardiac glycosides as a group have a small gap between an active amount and a toxic one, and raw plant material offers no way to control the dose, which is why unstandardized bulb preparations aren't taken by mouth.
