Dionaea muscipula extracts carry plumbagin and related naphthoquinones, which cycle between quinone and hydroquinone states. Ascorbate donates electrons to that system, so the two are chemically coupled in solution. This is a formulation and stability observation, not a demonstrated effect in people. No human data support pairing them for any outcome.
Naphthoquinones from Venus flytrap undergo hepatic conjugation before excretion. Silymarin is commonly taken alongside plant preparations that carry a similar conjugation load. The rationale is pharmacokinetic overlap, not a measured interaction. Anyone with existing liver concerns should raise the combination with a clinician first.
Plumbagin-type quinones react with the thiol group of glutathione, which is the main route by which the body clears them. Higher intake of the quinone therefore draws on glutathione stores. This is a depletion relationship, not an additive one, and it is the reason repeated high intake is not a casual choice.

Venus flytrap tissue contains a reactive compound called plumbagin along with flavonoids and phenolic acids. Plumbagin's chemical structure reacts readily with sulfur-containing groups on cell proteins.
This kind of compound can cycle through a reaction that transfers electrons to oxygen, which uses up the cell's reducing power and generates reactive oxygen byproducts.
The body clears these reactive compounds mainly by linking them to glutathione, then processing and excreting them in urine.
This plant grows in nitrogen-poor bog soil and gets nitrogen from trapped insects rather than its roots. Wild populations are limited to a small part of the Carolinas, so material sold commercially is grown in nurseries or tissue culture, not wild-collected.

It is the plant that snaps shut on flies. The part people take is the leaf and stem, either pressed into a juice or dried and milled. It makes a group of reactive compounds called naphthoquinones, and those are both the reason anyone is interested and the reason to be careful with how much you take. Because wild plants are protected, anything reputable is grown in a nursery.
Made from a plant. What ends up in the capsule tracks the harvest, so batch testing and a stated marker matter more here than with a made molecule.
Nursery-propagated or tissue-cultured plants. Wild collection is restricted because the native range is a narrow band of coastal Carolina bog.
