Capillary artemisia carries chlorogenic acid and coumarin-type constituents. Milk thistle carries the silymarin flavonolignans. Formulators combine them because the traditional use overlaps, not because a trial has compared the pair against either alone. Artichoke leaf and capillary artemisia share chlorogenic acid chemistry, so a combined product raises total caffeoylquinic acid intake without adding a new class of compound. The rationale is compositional overlap. No human study has tested the two together.
Both are bitter plant materials placed in the same class of traditional formula. The pairing is convention among formulators. Nothing here is an outcome measured in people.

When a polyphenol-heavy botanical is taken alongside non-heme iron, ascorbate partly offsets the chelation by holding iron in the ferrous form. The effect is on absorption chemistry in the gut lumen. It does not change what the herb itself does.
