Chinese Plumbago + GlutathionePlumbagin is a 1,4-naphthoquinone that undergoes redox cycling and conjugates directly with cellular thiols.

Naphthoquinones like plumbagin accept an electron to form a semiquinone that regenerates superoxide, and they also form Michael adducts with the cysteine thiol of glutathione. Both routes draw down the cellular glutathione pool. Anything that raises glutathione blunts the quinone's oxidative signalling, so the two work against each other rather than together.

Chinese Plumbago + NACN-acetylcysteine supplies cysteine for glutathione synthesis and its free thiol reacts directly with quinones.

NAC quenches naphthoquinone reactivity in two ways: it raises glutathione supply and its own thiol adds across the quinone ring. In laboratory work NAC is routinely used to demonstrate that a plumbagin effect is oxidant-dependent. Anyone combining them should expect the plumbagin signal to be dampened.

Chinese Plumbago + Vitamin CAscorbate reduces quinones to semiquinones and can accelerate redox cycling in the presence of transition metals.

Ascorbate is a one-electron donor, and in a system containing a naphthoquinone plus free iron or copper it can push the cycle rather than stop it. The direction of the interaction depends heavily on metal availability and oxygen tension, which is why in vitro results point both ways. This is a laboratory chemistry note, not a human finding.

Chinese Plumbago + Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)Flavin-dependent NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase performs the two-electron reduction that detoxifies quinones without generating semiquinone.

NQO1 uses a flavin cofactor derived from riboflavin to convert quinones straight to the hydroquinone, bypassing the radical-generating one-electron step. Riboflavin status therefore sits upstream of how a person handles a naphthoquinone load. The relationship is settled enzymology rather than a tested supplement pairing.

Chinese Plumbago + Black Pepper Extract (BioPerine)Plumbagin is lipophilic with limited oral bioavailability and is subject to first-pass glucuronidation.

Piperine slows intestinal and hepatic conjugation enzymes that clear polyphenolic and quinone compounds on first pass. Applied to plumbagin the expected result is higher plasma exposure per milligram. Since plumbagin is a reactive molecule with a narrow margin between an active and an irritant dose, raising exposure is not automatically an improvement.
