Piperine slows first-pass conjugation of a range of plant alkaloids and phenolics in the gut wall. Curry leaf carbazole alkaloids are lipophilic bases handled by the same enzyme systems, so the pairing is mechanistically reasonable. It has not been measured for these specific alkaloids, so read it as inference from a class effect.

Curry leaf is used as an iron-bearing green in Indian cooking, and the iron in leafy plant material is non-heme. Fresh curry leaf carries provitamin A carotenoids that the intestinal enzyme BCO1 cleaves toward retinal and then retinol. Adding a leaf preparation to a carotenoid product simply adds to the same pool. Drying and long storage cut the carotenoid content substantially.
Both are fried into hot oil at the start of a dish and both contribute volatile terpenes. Supplement blends aimed at digestive comfort commonly carry the pair. The basis is culinary tradition rather than a measured interaction.
Curry leaf and gymnema appear together in traditional Indian formulas aimed at glucose handling and are stacked in commercial products on that basis. Neither the pairing nor the individual contribution of curry leaf has been separated out in controlled work. This is tradition, and it should be read that way.
