Does it work
It suits people with dry, tight skin who want a plain single-oil emollient. Swallowed in a softgel it mostly acts as a carrier for fat-soluble compounds.
How much to take
No daily amount is on record, so there's no settled maintenance band to lead with. On skin, a thin layer over the dry area is the usual way it gets used.

Emu Oil + Vitamin EEmu oil is an unsaturated animal fat and vitamin E is the standard lipid-phase antioxidant used to slow oxidation in such oils.

Emu oil carries a high proportion of oleic and linoleic acid, both of which oxidise on exposure to air, light and warmth. Tocopherols sit in the lipid phase and interrupt the chain reaction that produces rancidity. This is why nearly every emu oil product on the market lists a tocopherol on the label. The role is preservation of the oil, not a separate benefit for the user.

Emu Oil + Vitamin ARetinol is fat-soluble and requires a lipid vehicle, and emu oil is used as a carrier oil in topical and oral formats.

Fat-soluble vitamins dissolve into a triglyceride carrier and depend on that carrier for delivery. Emu oil is used as such a carrier because its fatty acid profile keeps retinyl esters in solution. In topical products, the oil also supports spread across the skin surface. The oil is doing delivery work, not adding retinoid activity.

Emu Oil + Omega-3 Fish Oil (EPA/DHA)Both are long chain fatty acid sources competing for the same elongation and desaturation enzymes and the same micellar absorption route.

Emu oil is dominated by oleic and linoleic acid, an omega-9 and omega-6 pair. Linoleic acid competes with alpha-linolenic acid for delta-6 desaturase, the same enzyme that starts the omega-3 conversion chain. Preformed EPA and DHA in fish oil bypass that step entirely, so the competition matters less when the omega-3 source is marine rather than plant. Worth understanding, not a reason to avoid either.

Emu Oil + AstaxanthinA lipophilic carotenoid needs a fat vehicle for dissolution, and emu oil functions as that vehicle.

Astaxanthin has essentially no aqueous solubility and depends on the surrounding lipid for both stability and absorption. Suspending it in a triglyceride oil keeps it dissolved and slows its own oxidation. Emu oil serves this role the same way any other stable triglyceride would. The pairing is a delivery decision.

Emu Oil + RosemaryRosemary extract is a standard natural antioxidant used to protect unsaturated oils from oxidation during storage.

Carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid from rosemary extract are widely used to extend the induction period of unsaturated oils. In an oleic and linoleic rich oil like emu oil, that translates into slower development of rancid odour and peroxide value. It is often used together with tocopherols because the two work at different points in the oxidation chain. This is preservation chemistry.

Emu Oil + Hyaluronic AcidCombined in topical formulations where an occlusive lipid and a humectant address different layers of skin hydration.

Hyaluronic acid holds water in the upper skin layers, while an occlusive oil slows transepidermal water loss from above. The two act by unrelated routes, which is why they are combined in the same topical products. The evidence is formulation practice and skin physiology rather than a controlled trial of the combination in emu oil specifically. This is topical, not oral.

Emu Oil + Vitamin D3Cholecalciferol is fat-soluble and its absorption improves when taken with a triglyceride source.

Vitamin D3 depends on dietary fat to enter mixed micelles and cross into the enterocyte. Any triglyceride oil taken alongside supports that, including emu oil. The magnitude depends on total fat in the meal, not on which oil was chosen. There is nothing specific to emu oil in this effect.

Emu Oil + Coenzyme Q10Ubiquinone is highly lipophilic and is routinely dissolved or suspended in an oil base for softgel delivery.

CoQ10 in dry powder form dissolves very poorly and its absorption improves substantially in an oil-based softgel. Emu oil can serve as that oil base. The oil determines dissolution, which is the rate-limiting step for this molecule. Again the contribution is vehicle rather than activity.
