Camelina oil is dominated by polyunsaturated fatty acids, which oxidise readily once pressed. Alpha-tocopherol interrupts the lipid peroxidation chain, which is why the seed carries its own tocopherol load and why formulators add more. The pairing protects the oil in the bottle rather than doing anything inside the body.
Alpha-linolenic acid from camelina and linoleic acid from seed oils compete for the same delta-6 desaturase step. A diet heavy in linoleic acid lowers the fraction of alpha-linolenic acid that moves down the chain toward longer omega-3 fatty acids. This is a competition worth flagging on any label that pairs the two.
Camelina supplies alpha-linolenic acid, the plant precursor that the body converts to EPA and then, much less efficiently, to DHA. Conversion in humans is limited and varies with sex, background diet and genetics. Pairing the two is a way of covering both the precursor and the preformed forms rather than relying on conversion.
Mixed tocopherols cover a wider range of the peroxyl radicals formed in a polyunsaturated oil than alpha-tocopherol alone. Cold-pressed camelina keeps more of its native minor components, and the added tocopherols extend shelf stability. The benefit is to the oil itself, not a physiological effect.
Carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid from rosemary extract slow oxidation in oils that will not tolerate synthetic antioxidants. In camelina products the pairing is a stability decision made at the filling line. Read it as formulation practice rather than a claim about what either does in a person.
Astaxanthin is fat soluble and needs a lipid carrier for meaningful uptake. A seed oil high in unsaturated fatty acids serves that role in softgels. The evidence here is about carrier behaviour, not about a combined effect on any outcome.

Camelina seed oil is mostly unsaturated fat, with one omega-3 fatty acid as the single largest component, alongside two other unsaturated fats.
That omega-3 fatty acid is the plant-source version, and the body converts only a small, variable fraction of it into the longer-chain omega-3s, because the conversion step is rate-limiting and shared with the omega-6 pathway.
Unsaturated oils oxidize when exposed to light, heat, and oxygen, forming breakdown products, which is why camelina oil is sold in dark glass, kept cool, and given a short shelf life.
Camelina seed carries glucosinolate compounds, which is why the pressed meal is used as animal feed only at limited amounts, and why the oil, not the meal, is the part meant for people.
