Its signature compounds are fat-soluble flavones plus other plant acids, and one of those flavones is usually the marker used to standardize the material.
These fat-soluble flavones resist the fast breakdown that clears most dietary flavonoids, so they reach higher levels in the blood. That's just a fact about how they're processed, not a claim about what they then do.
One of the plant acids is poorly absorbed intact and gets mostly broken down by gut microbes into a related acid and further compounds, so what actually circulates is that metabolite set rather than the original.
Where Java Tea comes from.
Java tea comes from a Southeast Asian plant called cat's whiskers, named for the long stamens that stick out of the flower. It has been drunk as a tea in Indonesia and Malaysia for a long time and made its way into European herbal practice from there.
