Lebbek + Vitamin EEstablished saponin chemistry: triterpenoid saponins form mixed micelles with bile salts and lower micellar solubilisation of lipophilic compounds.

Saponins are amphiphilic and compete with dietary lipid for space in bile-salt micelles, which is the vehicle fat-soluble vitamins depend on for uptake. A concentrated saponin-bearing extract taken with a vitamin E dose can therefore lower how much tocopherol is solubilised in that meal. The same logic applies to vitamin D, vitamin K and carotenoids. Separating the doses by a few hours is the straightforward response.

Lebbek + Beta-CaroteneEstablished absorption physiology: carotenoid uptake requires micellar incorporation, which saponins disturb.

Beta-carotene is absorbed only after it partitions into a mixed micelle with bile salts and dietary fat. Saponins alter micelle composition and can displace carotenoid from that vehicle. The interaction is dose-dependent and matters for concentrated extracts rather than for trace amounts. Anyone relying on carotenoid intake for vitamin A status should keep the two apart.

Lebbek + IronEstablished mineral chemistry: condensed tannins in bark and pod material form insoluble complexes with non-heme iron.

Albizia bark and pod material carries condensed tannins, which bind non-heme iron in the gut lumen and take it out of solution. An iron supplement taken in the same window is partly wasted. Vitamin C in the same meal offsets some of the binding but does not remove it. Two hours of separation is the practical rule.

Lebbek + Vitamin CEstablished biochemistry: ascorbate competes with polyphenols for non-heme iron and keeps it in the ferrous form.

Where tannin-rich plant material is unavoidable in a meal, ascorbate partly offsets the iron binding by reducing ferric iron to ferrous and holding it in solution. The offset is partial and depends on the ratio of ascorbate to polyphenol. It is a mitigation rather than a synergy in the usual sense. Direction of effect is well established across plant-food studies generally.

Lebbek + Turmeric CurcuminSaponins act as natural surfactants and raise apparent solubility of poorly water-soluble compounds in vitro.

Curcumin is close to insoluble in water and its absorption is limited by that. Triterpenoid saponins lower interfacial tension and can raise the dispersed fraction of such compounds, which is why saponin-bearing materials are studied as natural solubilisers. The observations are from in vitro solubility and permeability work, not from human pharmacokinetics for this specific pair. Read it as mechanistic.

Lebbek + QuercetinBoth are polyphenol-class plant constituents subject to the same phase II conjugation route in enterocytes and liver.

Flavonoids in Albizia material and supplemental quercetin both pass through UGT and SULT conjugation, and flavonoids are known to inhibit those enzymes at higher concentrations. Co-dosing can therefore shift the conjugated fraction of either one. The magnitude in people at ordinary intakes is unknown. It is flagged as a plausible interaction, not a measured one.
