It suits people who want an aromatic herbal tea in an evening routine, and formulators using the oil. Tea and oil are chemically different products, so pick the one you want.
How much to take
No daily amount is on record. For the leaf, start with a cup or two of infusion a day. The oil is used diluted at low working concentrations rather than taken by the spoon.

The aroma and the warmth of a cup register within minutes. Anything past that has no measured time course in people at this herb.

Lemongrass + ChamomileEssential oils of both plants were combined as a single dietary additive in one published fish feeding study.

Lemongrass and chamomile essential oils have been fed together as a combined additive in aquaculture work, so the pairing exists as a tested formulation rather than only as an idea. The study measured zootechnical performance in fish, which says nothing directly about people. Both oils are lipophilic and share the same emulsification problem in a water-based product. The pairing is documented practice at an early confidence level.

Lemongrass + MCT OilEstablished formulation chemistry: volatile terpenes are lipophilic and disperse into a medium-chain triglyceride carrier.

Citral and the other lemongrass terpenes are oil-soluble and do not disperse in water on their own. A medium-chain triglyceride carrier dissolves them, dilutes the neat oil to a usable concentration and reduces the mucosal irritation that undiluted essential oil causes. It also gives a lipid vehicle for uptake. This is standard essential-oil formulation, not a claimed biological synergy.

Lemongrass + Sunflower LecithinEstablished emulsion chemistry: phospholipid emulsifiers stabilise oil-in-water dispersions of volatile terpenes.

Lecithin lowers interfacial tension and lets lemongrass oil form a stable oil-in-water emulsion instead of separating out. Smaller droplet size also slows oxidation of citral by reducing the exposed surface chemistry available to air. That is why nanoemulsion formats of this oil exist at all. The pairing is a manufacturing step rather than a physiological interaction.

Lemongrass + Vitamin EEstablished oxidation chemistry: tocopherols act as chain-breaking antioxidants in oil phases and slow aldehyde degradation.

Citral is an aldehyde and oxidises on exposure to air, light and warmth, which is why old lemongrass oil smells different from fresh. Mixed tocopherols added to the oil phase interrupt the radical chain that drives that degradation. The benefit is to the product on the shelf, not to the person taking it. It is standard practice in volatile-oil formulation.

Lemongrass + Peppermint OilBoth are volatile terpene oils formulated in the same enteric or emulsion systems, with overlapping mucosal irritation at high concentration.

Lemongrass and peppermint oils are handled the same way in manufacturing and are often combined in single-capsule blends. Both irritate mucosa when undiluted, so the irritation potential of a combined product is additive and the total oil load is what matters. Neither pairs with the other on any tested biological endpoint. The row is here to flag the additive irritation rather than to promote the combination.

Lemongrass + Oregano OilShared in vitro membrane-disruption mechanism across volatile phenolic and aldehyde terpenes.

Carvacrol from oregano and citral from lemongrass both disrupt microbial membranes in culture, and combined essential-oil blends are a standard approach in feed and food preservation. The evidence base is in vitro and in livestock, not in people. Both oils are equally hard on mucosa at working concentrations. Anyone stacking volatile oils should be counting total oil, not individual ingredients.

Lemongrass + GingerBoth are used as culinary aromatics in the same infusions and share the volatile terpene chemistry class.
