A pooled review of prickly pear intake reports effects on blood glucose measures in adults with high blood sugar, plausibly through fibre viscosity and delayed carbohydrate delivery. Berberine acts intracellularly on glucose handling instead. Two different routes toward the same marker means the drop can add up, which matters most for anyone already on glucose-lowering medication. Glucose readings are markers, not outcomes.
Chromium is included in glucose blends on the basis of its role in insulin signalling, while cactus fibre works physically in the lumen. Nothing links the two chemically.
