Both contribute volatile monoterpenes and rosmarinic acid, so the pairing is chemically coherent as well as historical. The pairing is unremarkable for dried herb and teas, where volatile levels are low.

Menthol and hyssop aromatics are combined in lozenges, syrups and inhalations. Menthol contributes the cooling sensory effect that people read as clearing. Sensory effect is not the same as a measured change in airway function, and the distinction should survive into any copy.

Rosmarinic acid is the principal phenolic in hyssop and can be recycled from its radical form by ascorbate in vitro. That chemistry is a standard reason for pairing a phenolic botanical with vitamin C in a formula. Whether it changes rosmarinic acid exposure in a person has not been measured.
