Nutmeg, cinnamon and clove have been combined in the same preparations for centuries because their aromatic profiles complement each other. Chemically they all sit in the phenylpropanoid family, differing in the ring substitution. The pairing is culinary and formulation convention, and no combined pharmacology has been demonstrated.

Both are warming aromatic spices used around meals across several traditions. Ginger carries far more human data for digestive comfort than nutmeg does. In a blend, ginger is generally doing the documented work and nutmeg is contributing aroma and tradition.

Nutmeg + Vitamin ETocopherols slow oxidative degradation of the fixed oil and volatile fraction during shelf life.

The seed's fat fraction and its volatile oil both oxidise, producing rancid off-notes and loss of the aromatic constituents. Tocopherol is the standard chain-breaking antioxidant used to slow this in oleoresins and oil-filled capsules. It protects the material rather than adding any activity of its own.

Nutmeg + Coenzyme Q10Both are lipophilic and share the same oil-based delivery formats and oxidation-sensitive shelf life.

Oil-filled softgels that carry one lipophilic ingredient will carry the other, and both need the same antioxidant protection in the fill. This is a manufacturing overlap and not a pharmacological relationship. Recorded so formulators do not read it as more than that.

Nutmeg + 5-HTPBoth are used in serotonergic or mood-oriented preparations, and myristicin shows monoamine oxidase inhibiting activity in laboratory preparations.

Myristicin has been reported to inhibit monoamine oxidase in laboratory assays, and 5-HTP raises serotonin synthesis. Combining an agent that increases serotonin production with one that may slow its breakdown is a recognised class of concern, even where the in vivo relevance of the enzyme finding is unclear. What Nutmeg actually does.

Nutmeg seed has an essential oil rich in a few aromatic compounds along with some monoterpenes, and the amount of one key compound varies a lot by growing region, so nutmeg from different places isn't chemically interchangeable.

The body's liver enzymes turn two of these compounds into metabolites that resemble amphetamine in structure, which is the accepted explanation for the mind-altering and toxic effects reported after eating large single amounts of ground nutmeg, and it's why ordinary cooking amounts and gram-scale amounts aren't on the same scale of everyday use.

Roughly a quarter to half of the seed's weight is fixed oil, mostly one triglyceride. Pressing that fraction out makes nutmeg butter, so pressed and distilled nutmeg products contain fundamentally different things.

Mace is the dried covering around the seed, not the seed itself. It has a related but different oil profile, so mace and nutmeg are different plant parts from the same fruit and should be listed separately on a label.
