Fennel infusions carry flavonoids and phenolic acids. Separating an iron dose from a strong herbal infusion by a couple of hours is the usual practical response.
Fennel volatile oil has antimicrobial activity against several bacterial species in laboratory testing. Whether an oral dose reaches the colon at concentrations that matter for a probiotic organism is unknown. The interaction is theoretical and the direction has not been measured in people.
