Tongkat ali and gokshura occupy the same male vitality formulation slot and are routinely stacked in commercial products. Their constituent classes, quassinoids and steroidal saponins, are unrelated. Saponin-rich and tannin-containing plant extracts can bind non-heme iron in the gut lumen and lower its uptake. The effect has been characterised for legume saponins rather than for Tribulus specifically. Separating a mineral dose from a botanical extract removes the question. Flagged as a plausible competition, not a demonstrated loss.

Tribulus fruit carries steroidal saponins of the furostanol and spirostanol types, and protodioscin is the one labels usually standardise to. Content swings a lot with plant part, where it grew and when it was picked, which is why two suppliers' extracts rarely match.
These saponins pair a fat-loving steroid core with sugar chains, so they behave a bit like soap. That's why they foam in water and why they tend to interact with membrane sterols and with whatever else is in your gut.
The sugar-attached saponins barely get absorbed whole. Your gut bacteria strip the sugars off to release the core molecule, so what reaches your bloodstream depends on your own microbes as much as on the dose.

It is the dried fruit of a low-growing spiny plant. Either it is simply ground into powder, or it is soaked to pull out the active compounds, dried into a concentrate, and checked so each batch carries the same amount.
