What Selank is, and what it does.

Does it work
Suits people already familiar with peptides who want calm that doesn't blunt attention. The human literature is small and largely from one research tradition, so go in knowing that.
How much to take
Start with 100 to 300 micrograms a day, which is the maintenance band used intranasally. The 600 microgram figure comes from trial protocols and is a research condition.
Time to feel it
Reports from the intranasal trials describe a settling within the first hour or two, with the questionnaire changes measured across two to four weeks of daily use.
The first dose
Day one is usually quiet. Some people describe a mild settling within the hour, and the measured changes accumulate across weeks rather than landing in a single dose.
With regular use
Most effects take 2-8 weeks. Be patient.
How well tolerated
Generally well tolerated. Check with your doctor if on medications.
How it feels
Anxiety melts. Focus remains. Calm without drowsiness.
The overlooked benefit
Its backbone is tuftsin, a fragment your own immunoglobulin G releases, which is why the immune-signalling side of this peptide gets studied alongside the calm-focus side.

100 to 300mcg a day is where Selank works.

These words describe the research, not the molecule's worth. Research strength is how much work stands behind one claim, and it is never a product score.

Questions people ask about Selank.

When should I take it?
Timing matters less than consistency. Pick a time that works for you and take it daily.
Can I take it with other supplements?
Usually fine. The main thing to watch is not doubling up on the same ingredient from different products. If you're on prescription meds, check with your pharmacist first.
Any side effects to watch for?
Most people tolerate it well at recommended doses. GI upset is the most common complaint with any supplement. Start with a lower dose and work up. If something feels off, stop and reassess.
Who benefits most from this?
Honestly, most people would benefit more from the basics. But if you've got a specific reason to try it, the risk is generally low.

Why these belong in the same formula. Each row says what the basis is, from settled biochemistry through to a trial that measured the pair.

Selank + PepsinEstablished peptide chemistry: gastric pepsin hydrolyses internal peptide bonds

Selank is a short peptide, and peptide bonds are exactly what pepsin cleaves at gastric pH. Anything that increases gastric proteolytic activity while the peptide is in the stomach reduces the amount that survives intact. This is why the molecule is handled as a parenteral or intranasal peptide rather than an oral one.

Selank + Betaine HClEstablished gastric chemistry: lower stomach pH activates pepsinogen and accelerates acid-catalysed peptide hydrolysis

Betaine hydrochloride is taken to lower gastric pH, which both activates more pepsin and speeds acid hydrolysis of peptide bonds. For an orally swallowed peptide that works against intact delivery. The interaction disappears entirely for a non-oral route.

Selank + Digestive enzymesEstablished proteolysis; broad-spectrum protease blends cleave short peptides

Protease-containing enzyme blends are formulated to break proteins and peptides into amino acids and dipeptides. A heptapeptide is a substrate for them, not an exception. Co-dosing an oral peptide with a protease blend reduces how much reaches absorption intact.

Selank + BromelainEstablished proteolytic activity of a plant cysteine protease

Bromelain is a broad-specificity protease active across a range of pH values, including in the small intestine. It cleaves peptide bonds without regard to the peptide's intended purpose. Separate the two if an oral peptide is being used at all.

Selank + PapainEstablished broad-specificity proteolysis

Papain hydrolyses peptide bonds with wide specificity and stays active over a broad pH range. A seven-residue peptide is well within its substrate range. The practical consequence is loss of intact peptide when the two are taken together orally.

Selank + L-theanineBoth are used for a calm-alert profile; no combination study was located

L-theanine has its own human literature for calm attention, and Selank is used with a similar intent. Nothing measured the two together, so this is overlap of purpose rather than a demonstrated additive effect. Anyone stacking calming agents should expect the drowsiness of each to add.

Selank + GlycineGlycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in its own right; established neurochemistry

Glycine acts at inhibitory glycine receptors and is used for sleep onset support. Combined with any calming agent the sedative effects can add. There is no combination evidence for this specific pair, and the grounding is glycine's own neurochemistry.

Selank + GABAEstablished inhibitory neurotransmission; peripheral GABA has limited central access

Supplemental GABA acts largely at peripheral receptors because it crosses the blood-brain barrier poorly, so the pairing is weaker than it looks on a label. Where any calming effect does occur, it can add to that of another calming agent. No study of the combination was located.

Selank + MagnesiumEstablished role of magnesium at NMDA receptors and in neuronal excitability

Magnesium sits in the NMDA receptor channel and contributes to normal control of neuronal excitability, which is why it appears in calming formulas. Additive drowsiness with another calming agent is the practical consideration. This pair has not been measured together.

Selank + CaffeineEstablished adenosine receptor antagonism producing arousal

Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors and increases arousal, which pulls in the opposite direction from a calming agent. Taken together each can mask the subjective signal of the other rather than cancel it. Nothing measured the pair, so this is pharmacology, not a result.

Selank + L-tryptophanEstablished serotonin precursor biochemistry

Tryptophan is the dietary precursor for serotonin synthesis by way of 5-hydroxytryptophan. Any agent with reported effects on serotonergic tone is therefore often stacked with it. The overlap is at the level of pathway, not of any measured combination outcome.

Who should be cautious

Nothing specific on file for Selank. Match the label to the daily amount above, and tell your doctor what you take.

Not medical advice. Show the label to your pharmacist.

What Selank actually does.

Established

It is a lab-made chain of seven amino acids: the natural tuftsin sequence with three extra residues added on the end.

Established

The proline-rich tail makes the peptide harder for the body's enzymes to chew up, so it lasts longer than the natural fragment.

Established

Swallowed, it gets digested like any small protein, which is why it is normally used as a nasal spray or an injection.

Established

The core sequence it is built on is a natural fragment cut out of an antibody.
