Salicin is inactive as swallowed. Colonic bacteria cleave the sugar to release saligenin, which the liver then oxidises to salicylic acid. That makes microbial capacity a real determinant of how much salicylate a given bark dose produces, and it explains why onset is slow compared with a direct salicylate. Whether adding a supplemental probiotic strain measurably changes this conversion has not been demonstrated.
The main elimination route for salicylate is conjugation with glycine in the liver, and that pathway saturates at higher salicylate loads. Adequate glycine supply is a precondition for the pathway rather than a way to speed it up in someone already replete. This is biochemistry, not a demonstrated interaction with willow bark specifically.
Salicylate lowers thromboxane production through cyclooxygenase, and EPA shifts eicosanoid output toward less aggregatory species. Curcumin lowers platelet aggregation in cell and animal work, with limited human confirmation at ordinary supplement doses given its poor absorption. The direction of any effect matches salicylate's. Read this as a caution flag rather than an established clinical interaction.
