Thymus satureioides is the borneol-rich Moroccan thyme, which makes rosemary its closest chemical neighbour among common oils. Blending them stacks the same monoterpene classes rather than adding new ones. That is useful for aroma work and it also means the combined terpene load rises faster than the number of ingredients suggests.
The antimicrobial activity attributed to both oils in vitro comes from the same two phenolic monoterpenes, so combining them adds concentration rather than adding a second mechanism. It also adds their shared mucosal irritancy. Laboratory activity against isolated organisms is not the same as an effect in a person.
Phenolic monoterpenes act on membrane integrity, and Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium have membranes too. Taking a neat phenolic oil in the same swallow as a live culture works against the culture's viability. Separating the two by a few hours, or enteric-coating one of them, is the usual formulation answer.
Monoterpene oils form peroxides as they age, which degrades aroma and raises skin irritancy. Tocopherol in the oil phase intercepts the propagating radicals. This is a stability measure and says nothing about biological effect.
