Garlic organosulfur compounds and cayenne capsaicinoids each slow normal platelet aggregation in laboratory work. Stacking them, particularly alongside fish oil or ginkgo, pushes the same normal clotting process in one direction.
Capsaicinoids are lipophilic and dissolve into fat rather than water, so a lipid carrier keeps them dispersed instead of aggregating in the stomach. Oleoresin extracts are routinely suspended in a medium chain triglyceride base for exactly this reason. The pairing is about physical delivery, not about a second active effect.
Phospholipids emulsify capsaicinoid rich oleoresin into fine droplets that stay dispersed through the gastric contents. Emulsification also spreads the dose over a larger surface, which softens the concentrated local contact that makes neat extract uncomfortable. This is formulation practice with a clear physical basis.
Marshmallow root polysaccharides swell into a viscous mucilage that coats the gastric lining and slows direct contact between capsaicinoids and sensory nerve endings there. Traditional herbal practice pairs pungent botanicals with demulcents on this reasoning. The mechanism is described physically; it has not been quantified against cayenne in a trial.
Slippery elm behaves as a demulcent for the same reason marshmallow does, forming a viscous layer that buffers the burning sensation of a concentrated capsaicinoid dose. Formulators use it where a pungent extract is otherwise poorly tolerated. Read it as tolerability formulation rather than as an effect on capsaicinoid activity.
Capsaicinoids act on TRPV1 sensory receptors with downstream sympathetic signalling, while carnitine works at the mitochondrial fatty acid transport step, so the two touch different points of the same broad process. Thermogenic formulas commonly stack them for that reason. No combination trial isolates the pair.
Both spices have been examined for effects on post meal glucose handling, so a formula carrying both may produce a larger shift than either alone. The individual signals are modest and the combination has not been measured directly. Anyone tracking blood sugar closely should account for both being present.
Berberine has a well described effect on glucose handling and cayenne appears in formulas aimed at the same normal process, so the two together push in one direction. This is worth flagging as an additive pairing rather than a complementary one. The combination itself has not been tested.
Dietary nitrate raises nitric oxide availability and capsaicinoid activation of TRPV1 on sensory nerves releases calcitonin gene related peptide, a vasodilator. Both nudge vascular tone in the same direction, so stacking them is an additive situation worth naming. The size of any combined shift has not been measured.
Long chain omega 3 fatty acids reduce platelet aggregation through eicosanoid substrate competition, and capsaicinoids have shown antiplatelet activity in laboratory preparations. The overlap points one way, so it is flagged rather than presented as a benefit. The cayenne side of it rests on in vitro work.
Capsicum fruit is naturally high in ascorbic acid, so whole dried cayenne powder carries some vitamin C alongside its capsaicinoids. Concentrated oleoresin extracts do not, because the extraction targets the lipophilic fraction. The distinction matters when reading what a cayenne ingredient actually delivers.
The red and orange pigments of capsicum fruit are carotenoids, including beta carotene along with capsanthin and capsorubin, and they travel with the lipophilic fraction into an oleoresin. Their absorption follows the same fat dependence as the capsaicinoids. This is composition rather than an interaction between two separate supplements.
Curcuminoids and capsaicinoids are both poorly water soluble plant actives that depend on a fat containing vehicle or meal for absorption, so a single lipid base serves both. Culinary and traditional practice has combined the two spices for a long time. No combination study measures whether either raises absorption of the other.
Enzyme blends appear with pungent botanicals in products framed around digestion, where the spice component is included for its sensory and secretory effect rather than for enzyme activity. The two act on separate steps. Read the pairing as formulation convention, not as a measured interaction.

The heat in cayenne comes from capsaicinoids, mainly capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin, which make up only a small percentage of the dried fruit by weight.
Capsaicin latches onto TRPV1, a sensory ion channel that also answers to heat and to acid. That is why you register it as warmth rather than as a taste.
Switching on TRPV1 opens a channel that lets calcium into sensory nerves and triggers them to release calcitonin gene related peptide and substance P from the nerve ending.
Repeated capsaicin exposure dulls those same sensory endings, which is why regular chilli eaters find a given amount milder than a first time user does.
Where Cayenne Pepper comes from.
Ripe red chillies are dried and either ground into powder or soaked to pull out the hot compounds into a concentrate. The concentrate is then measured for how much capsaicin it holds, because that number, not the milligrams, is what tells you the strength.
Made from a plant. What ends up in the capsule tracks the harvest, so batch testing and a stated marker matter more here than with a made molecule.
Mature red chilli fruit of pungent cayenne type cultivars, harvested ripe. Cultivar and growing conditions set the capsaicinoid ceiling before any processing happens.
Sun drying or controlled hot air drying to a low moisture content that stops enzymatic and microbial degradation. Drying temperature affects both pigment retention and residual pungency.
For powder the dried fruit is milled and sieved. For oleoresin the milled fruit is extracted with a food grade solvent or supercritical carbon dioxide, which pulls the capsaicinoids and carotenoids into a lipophilic concentrate.
Solvent is stripped under vacuum and residual solvent is controlled to specification. Carbon dioxide extraction leaves no solvent residue, which is why it is used where a solvent free declaration is wanted.
Capsaicinoids are quantified by HPLC and the material is diluted with a carrier to a declared percentage, or the whole powder is blended to a target Scoville heat unit value.
Blended into capsule powder, loaded onto a coated beadlet, suspended in a lipid base, or extracted into ethanol and water for a liquid.
