What Immutol actually does.

Beta-1,3/1,6 glucans are branched glucose polymers of fungal and yeast cell walls; the beta linkage is not hydrolysed by human digestive enzymes, so the intact polymer reaches the distal gut.

Dectin-1, a C-type lectin receptor on macrophages, dendritic cells and neutrophils, is the principal mammalian receptor for beta-1,3 glucan, and complement receptor 3 provides a second recognition route.

Undigested beta-glucan reaching the colon is fermentable by resident microbiota to short-chain fatty acids, a route entirely separate from innate receptor engagement.

Strong

Receptor recognition depends on the degree and pattern of beta-1,6 branching and on molecular weight, which is why glucans from different sources are not interchangeable ligands even at the same declared percentage.
