Ketone bodies and pyruvate both feed acetyl-CoA into the TCA cycle, but pyruvate needs thiamine pyrophosphate to get there and beta-hydroxybutyrate does not. That difference is why the two fuels behave differently when cofactor supply is limited. The relationship is settled enzymology, not a tested combination.

Taurine functions as a cellular osmolyte and conjugates bile acids, neither of which touches ketone metabolism directly. Its presence in these formulas is formulation convention. Stated as such rather than dressed up as synergy.

The diol form is a precursor. The liver converts it in two steps into the ketone body that shows up in a blood reading.
The ester form splits in the body to release the ketone straight away, and the other half of the molecule becomes more ketone in the liver.
The ketone crosses into the brain on a specific transporter, so the amount getting in depends on that carrier as well as on the blood level.
Other tissues burn the ketone through a short three-enzyme route into the main energy cycle. The liver cannot, which is why it makes ketones for everyone else.
Where Ketone IQ Formula comes from.
The ketone part is made in a chemical plant, either as a precursor the liver converts or as a ketone bound to minerals, then mixed with flavouring into something drinkable.
Chemically synthesised. The molecule is identical to the one a plant or an animal makes, and building it deliberately means a known purity, a fixed dose and no crop contaminants. For several nutrients this is the only route that reaches a usable amount.
1,3-butanediol is produced industrially by chemical synthesis. The single-enantiomer R form requires either a chiral synthetic route or an enzymatic or microbial reduction step, and which route a supplier uses is generally not published.
For a monoester, beta-hydroxybutyrate is esterified to R-1,3-butanediol. For a salt, beta-hydroxybutyric acid is neutralised with sodium, potassium, calcium or magnesium hydroxide or carbonate.
The active is purified by distillation for liquids or crystallisation for salts. Residual solvent, unreacted diol and enantiomeric purity are the specifications that matter here.
Ketone content per serving and the R to S ratio are set by assay. Without the enantiomeric ratio a milligram figure does not say how much usable substrate is present.
The active is blended with water, flavours, sweeteners and acidulants into a shot or stick pack, or dried into a powder with the mineral counter-ions.
Which synthetic route produced the diol, the R to S enantiomeric ratio, residual solvent and unreacted diol limits, and the split between ester, diol and salt in a proprietary blend are routinely absent from a finished label, and each one changes what a stated milligram figure means.
