Collagen cannot be assembled without proline as substrate. Silicon is associated with connective tissue through a route that is not defined at the enzyme level. Pairing supplies a settled substrate alongside a trace element.
Lysine cross-linking is a defined step in collagen maturation. That biochemistry stands on its own without a combination trial. It is the substrate side of what silicon formulas address structurally.
The two sit in the same tissue compartment through different chemistry, one a polysaccharide and one a trace element. Formulas pair them for that reason. Neither modifies the other's absorption in any established way.

A clay adsorbent taken alongside a mineral supplement lowers the fraction available for absorption. Bentonite's own silicate structure is not a source of absorbable silicon, since the silicon there is bound in an insoluble lattice. Separate the doses.

The only form of silicon that crosses the intestinal mucosa in meaningful quantity is monomeric orthosilicic acid; polymerised silica and silicate minerals are not absorbed as such.
Orthosilicic acid polymerises spontaneously in aqueous solution above roughly two millimolar, which is the formulation problem every silicon supplement has to answer through either stabilisation or a dissolvable source.
Bamboo stem and leaf material accumulates silicon as biogenic silica in phytoliths, which is why bamboo extract is standardised on a silica percentage typically declared around seventy percent.
Absorbed silicon is not stored to any appreciable degree and is cleared in urine, so status reflects recent intake rather than a body pool.
Where Bamboo Silica Extract comes from.
Bamboo stores silica in its stems. The plant is milled, the silica is pulled out with hot water or an alkaline solution, then dropped back out of solution with acid, washed, dried and measured so the label can state a percentage.
Made from a plant. What ends up in the capsule tracks the harvest, so batch testing and a stated marker matter more here than with a made molecule.
Harvested Bambusa material, most often stems and nodes, where biogenic silica accumulates as phytoliths.
Milled biomass is extracted with hot water or an alkaline solution that dissolves the silica fraction away from the lignocellulosic matrix.
