Tremella polysaccharide holds many times its weight in water through its glucuronoxylomannan backbone, the same physical humectant mechanism hyaluronic acid uses. Pairing them delivers that water-binding from two molecules of different size.
Collagen peptides supply amino acid substrate for the dermal matrix while snow fungus polysaccharide supplies water binding. The two roles do not overlap.
Ceramides restore the lipid seal of the outer skin layer while the tremella polysaccharide holds water beneath it. One reduces water loss and the other supplies the water.
Tremella carries its own glucan fraction alongside the glucuronoxylomannan, so added beta-glucan raises the total load on innate immune receptors. The two structures differ in branching.

Fungal heteropolysaccharides such as glucuronoxylomannan are poorly digested by human enzymes, so most of an oral dose arrives in the colon intact and becomes fermentable material. Combining a fast and a slow substrate spreads fermentation along the colon, an established pattern in fibre work rather than a tested claim for this pair.
Whether a fungal polysaccharide does anything in the gut depends on resident bacteria carrying the glycoside hydrolases to open it. Adding organisms changes which fermentation products appear and in what ratio. The dependency runs one way: the bacteria enable the polysaccharide, not the other way round. Strain-specific and untested for this pairing.
Both mushrooms deliver high-molecular-weight polysaccharides that engage pattern-recognition receptors such as dectin-1 on innate immune cells. The structures differ, so the receptor engagement is not identical and the effects are not simply doubled. Blends are common in practice. The additive assumption rests on shared class pharmacology, not on a study of the two together.
Turkey tail is the more thoroughly characterised source of beta-glucan and protein-bound polysaccharide, and snow fungus contributes a mannan-type structure instead. A blend widens the range of polysaccharide backbones presented to innate immune receptors. That is a compositional argument, not a measured synergy.
Maitake carries branched beta-glucan; snow fungus carries an acidic heteropolysaccharide. Multi-mushroom blends are built on the idea that different backbones recruit different receptors. No combination data exists for this specific pair, so the row sits at the low end of confidence.
The two appear together in culinary and commercial mushroom blends, and both are consumed as whole fruiting body or hot-water extract.
