Suits endurance athletes and masters athletes wanting a non-stimulant addition through a training block. The human work is small and mostly older, so it sits in the background.
How much to take
Start with 5 to 20mg a day, the daily maintenance band, taken with a meal that has fat in it. Studies went to 40mg, which is a research condition rather than a daily target.
Time to feel it
There is no acute effect to notice. The endurance and lipid studies dosed daily for several weeks before measuring, so think in terms of a four to eight week run.

Where Octacosanol comes from.

It is skimmed off the waxy coating of plants, most often sugarcane or rice bran left over from food processing. The wax is split with alkali, the alcohol part is separated out and then cleaned up until the octacosanol content hits the specification. The label percentage may describe the whole wax alcohol mixture or just this one molecule, which is worth checking.
