No study gave these as a pair, so they are not in the card above. But the reason they belong together is settled biochemistry, not a guess, so it is worth knowing.
Eugenol from clove inhibits thromboxane-driven platelet aggregation and EPA does the same by shifting eicosanoid production. Taken together the effect on normal clotting adds up and matters around surgery.
Ginkgolides antagonise platelet activating factor while clove eugenol blocks thromboxane-driven aggregation. Both push normal clotting in the same direction.
Garlic organosulfur compounds and clove eugenol each reduce platelet aggregation by separate routes. Combined, the effect on normal clotting is larger than either alone.
Higher-dose vitamin E reduces platelet adhesion and, at very high intakes, competes with vitamin K dependent clotting factor activation. Adding clove eugenol pushes the same direction.

The two oils are both volatile-phenol and terpene rich, so a mixture spreads the antimicrobial and antioxidant load across more than one chemistry. This is livestock work, not human evidence, and it says nothing about a human dose.
Clove and rosemary essential oils, alone and combined, were compared in a growth-performance model. Rosemary contributes carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid while clove contributes eugenol, so the pair covers different radical-scavenging chemistries. The measurement was made in animals, so read it as mechanism support rather than a human result.
Clove bud is dense in gallotannins and other polyphenols, and tannins form insoluble complexes with non-heme iron before it reaches the absorptive surface. Taking a large polyphenol dose in the same sitting as an iron salt lowers how much of that iron is taken up. Separating the two by a couple of hours sidesteps the interaction.
Amino acid chelated iron keeps the metal bound to glycine, which limits how much of it is available to form tannin complexes. Where clove-rich food or extract is taken alongside iron, the chelated form is the one whose uptake is less sensitive to polyphenols. This describes a difference in behaviour, not a recommendation about which to buy.
Eugenol is cleared largely by glucuronidation and sulfation, and piperine inhibits several of those conjugating enzymes. Co-dosing can therefore raise circulating unconjugated eugenol relative to clove taken alone. Nobody has measured the size of that shift for clove specifically, so regard it as a direction rather than a number.
Both are phenolic spice constituents that scavenge radicals and act on Nrf2-linked antioxidant response signalling in cell work. Formulators pair them because the two occupy different lipid and aqueous compartments. Marker-level and cell-level support only; no human trial has tested the pair.
Clove and ginger appear together in spice blends and traditional preparations across South and Southeast Asia. Gingerols and eugenol are structurally different phenolics with partly overlapping antioxidant behaviour in vitro. There is no clinical work on the combination.
Quercetin and eugenol both donate hydrogen atoms to lipid radicals, and phenolic mixtures regenerate one another's oxidised forms in model systems. That recycling is measured in chemical and cell assays, not in people. Take the pairing as chemistry, not as an outcome.
Clove bud essential oil is a concentrated volatile fraction and is normally diluted into a carrier lipid before use. Medium-chain triglycerides dissolve eugenol readily and give a predictable per-drop concentration. The carrier changes dosing accuracy and mucosal contact, not the pharmacology of eugenol.
Clove essential oil inhibits a wide span of bacteria and yeasts in culture, and that span includes lactic acid bacteria of the kind sold as probiotics. Taken in the same mouthful, a concentrated oil is the more likely partner to reduce delivered live counts. Whether that matters at ordinary culinary intakes has not been measured in people.
Catechins and clove gallotannins are both galloyl-bearing polyphenols with strong metal-binding and radical-scavenging behaviour. Stacked together they add to the same tannin load, which also adds to the non-heme iron binding effect. No combination study exists.
