Gotu kola is a low creeping plant from wet ground in Asia. The leaves are washed and dried, then either ground into a plain powder or soaked in water or alcohol to pull out the active compounds, which are boiled down and dried into a concentrate. Standardised means the maker measured those compounds and adjusted the batch to hit a set number.
Made from a plant. What ends up in the capsule tracks the harvest, so batch testing and a stated marker matter more here than with a made molecule.
A creeping wetland herb grown or wild-collected across South and Southeast Asia and Madagascar. Leaves and stolons carry the triterpenes; the plant is usually washed and shade-dried to limit degradation.
Milled dried material is extracted with water, ethanol, or a mixture. Ethanol pulls more of the free triterpene acids, water favours the glycosides asiaticoside and madecassoside.
