Whey supplies leucine, which signals through mTORC1 to increase muscle protein synthesis after training. Recovery formulas pair a protein source with a botanical positioned around exercise adaptation. The protein mechanism is settled; the combination has not been studied.
Astaxanthin sits across the lipid bilayer with polar ends at both membrane surfaces, which lets it quench radicals in both phases. Ascorbate from the Rosa roxburghii fraction works in the water compartment. The pairing covers different compartments, which is redox chemistry rather than a tested outcome.
Ascorbate regenerates the tocopheroxyl radical back to tocopherol at the membrane interface, one of the oldest described antioxidant recycling relationships. The Rosa roxburghii fraction contributes ascorbate. This is settled redox chemistry, not a claim about the pair.
Rhodiola and Panax species are both used in formulas positioned around stamina under load and are commonly combined. The grounding is each botanical's own literature plus long-standing formulation practice. There is no study of this specific combination.

Ginsenosides and their deglycosylated metabolites are cleared substantially by glucuronidation, and piperine inhibits several UGT isoforms in the gut wall and liver. Intact ginsenosides are poorly absorbed and are converted by gut bacteria to smaller deglycosylated metabolites, including compound K, which are the forms that reach circulation. Senactiv is a branded, standardised blend of Panax notoginseng root and Rosa roxburghii fruit. Its makeup is set by the supplier's own specification, not by a single public pharmacopoeia monograph.
Panax notoginseng carries dammarane-type triterpenoid saponins: notoginsenoside R1 alongside ginsenosides Rg1, Rb1 and Rd. Those are the marker compounds labs measure when they standardise the extract.
Whole ginsenosides are bulky sugar-laden glycosides that cross the gut lining poorly. Gut bacteria trim the sugars off to make smaller pieces such as compound K, and those smaller pieces are much of what actually reaches your bloodstream.
Because that sugar-trimming is done by bacteria, how far the conversion goes differs a lot from person to person, depending on the microbes you happen to carry.
Where Senactiv (Panax/Rosa) comes from.
Two plants go into this. One is a ginseng relative grown in southwest China, dug up after about three years and extracted for its saponins. The other is a small thorny rose fruit that happens to be packed with natural vitamin C. Each is extracted and tested on its own, then the two are mixed at a set ratio the supplier keeps to itself and dried into a powder.
Made from a plant. What ends up in the capsule tracks the harvest, so batch testing and a stated marker matter more here than with a made molecule.
Notoginseng is a cultivated perennial harvested after roughly three years of growth, grown mainly in Yunnan and Guangxi. Rosa roxburghii, known as cili, is a thorny rose whose fruit is harvested ripe in southwest China, principally Guizhou.
Roots are washed, sorted by grade and dried; fruit is destemmed and dried or pressed. Drying temperature is a real variable for the fruit, since its ascorbate content degrades with heat and time.
Saponins are extracted from milled root with water and ethanol. The fruit is extracted or juiced, then concentrated, with the polar ascorbate and polyphenol fraction carrying through.
Saponin extracts are commonly passed over macroporous adsorption resin to enrich the saponin fraction and drop sugars and other polar ballast, then concentrated under vacuum.
Each fraction is assayed by HPLC against its markers, saponins for the root and ascorbate for the fruit, then blended to the supplier's fixed ratio specification and dried.
