Vitamin E works in cell membranes where it neutralizes lipid radicals and becomes a spent tocopheroxyl radical. Olive leaf polyphenols such as oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol can donate an electron to regenerate the active form of vitamin E, so the two support the body's fat-phase antioxidant defenses together rather than each alone.

Olive Leaf Extract + IronPolyphenol-iron chelation (absorption caution)

The phenolic groups in olive leaf bind non-heme iron in the gut and form poorly soluble complexes, the same well-characterized mechanism by which tea and other plant polyphenols lower iron uptake. Taking an olive leaf extract at the same meal as an iron supplement can reduce how much of that iron the body absorbs, so spacing them apart supports iron status.

Olive Leaf Extract + Vitamin CAntioxidant recycling

Ascorbate returns oxidised phenolic radicals and tocopherol to their active forms, so it sits downstream of olive polyphenol activity. It also reduces iron to the ferrous state, partly offsetting polyphenol iron binding.

Long-chain polyunsaturated fats oxidise readily, and phenolic antioxidants slow that chain reaction in the oil and in membranes. Pairing them is standard practice in marine oil formulas.

Olive Leaf Extract + ZincPolyphenol chelation

Phenolic hydroxyl groups complex divalent zinc in the gut lumen and lower how much is taken up. Spacing the doses resolves it.

Both are phenolics regenerated by the same ascorbate-dependent chain after quenching a radical. Combining classes spreads activity across aqueous and lipid compartments.

Piperine slows the glucuronidation and sulfation that clear phenolics quickly. Systemic exposure to olive polyphenols rises as a result.

Olive Leaf Extract + SeleniumComplementary cofactor

Selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase removes peroxides enzymatically while phenolics quench radicals directly. Neither arm substitutes for the other.

Nitrate supplies nitric oxide through the nitrate to nitrite route while phenolics slow its oxidative loss. Supply plus preservation of one signalling molecule.

Olive Leaf Extract + HydroxytyrosolEstablished metabolic relationship between the parent glycoside and its downstream phenol.

Oleuropein loses its glucose to intestinal and bacterial beta-glucosidases, and the resulting aglycone is cleaved further to hydroxytyrosol. Most measurable phenol in blood after an olive leaf dose is hydroxytyrosol in conjugated form. A formula carrying both supplies the parent and the product at once. This is metabolism, not an outcome.

Olive Leaf Extract + Vitamin K2 MK7Complementary handling of the same tissue compartment.

Vitamin K2 activates osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein, the proteins that direct where calcium is incorporated. Olive polyphenols appear in reviews of non-pharmacological approaches to bone measures, though only as one named intervention among many. The two act on different steps of normal bone mineral handling. Early and inferred rather than measured together.

Olive Leaf Extract + Coenzyme Q10Complementary redox positions in the aqueous and lipid phases.

The catechol group of olive phenolics quenches radicals in the aqueous phase and at the membrane surface, while coenzyme Q10 cycles inside the lipid bilayer. Their positions do not overlap, which is why they are formulated together. The rationale is redox chemistry measured in assays. No combination study in people exists.

Olive Leaf Extract + AstaxanthinLipid-phase carotenoid alongside an aqueous-phase phenol.

Astaxanthin spans the membrane bilayer and quenches singlet oxygen there, a different chemistry and a different location from olive catechols. Formulators combine phase-complementary antioxidants for that reason. The pairing sits at the marker level and does not describe an outcome. Early.

Olive Leaf Extract + LycopeneComplementary antioxidant classes in Mediterranean-pattern formulas.

Lycopene is a lipid-soluble carotenoid and olive phenolics are water-soluble catechols, so they distribute differently after absorption. Both appear in formulas modelled on the Mediterranean dietary pattern. The combination is dietary logic rather than a tested pair. Early.

Olive Leaf Extract + Grape seed extractShared proanthocyanidin and phenolic chemistry, with a conjugation caveat.

Grape seed proanthocyanidins and olive secoiridoids are both studied for endothelial function markers and both are cleared by glucuronidation and sulfation. Their vascular rationale overlaps and their clearance competes. Stacking large amounts of two phenolic extracts changes the conjugate profile of both. Citrulline is converted to arginine and feeds nitric oxide synthase, supplying the substrate side of vessel dilation. Olive phenolics are studied on the signalling and enzyme-availability side of the same molecule. Substrate and signal are complementary steps rather than duplicates. The joint effect is inferred from each literature separately.

Chromium is described as supporting insulin signalling at the cellular level, while olive phenolics inhibit carbohydrate-digesting enzymes in the gut lumen. One acts before absorption and the other after it. Anyone managing blood sugar with clinical support should have the stack reviewed. The additivity is inferred rather than measured together.

Olive Leaf Extract + BerberineShared direction on glucose handling by unrelated mechanisms.

Berberine acts on cellular energy sensing and glucose uptake; olive phenolics slow luminal starch breakdown through alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase inhibition. Two agents pointing the same way can sum. That is a reason to review the combination with a clinician rather than a claim about it. No combination data.

Olive Leaf Extract + Ferrous sulfateEstablished polyphenol-iron chelation.

Catechol-bearing phenolics complex non-heme iron in the gut lumen and lower uptake from that dose. Olive leaf extract becomes catechol rich once oleuropein is hydrolysed. Separating an iron supplement from the extract by a couple of hours removes the interaction. Textbook chemistry with no combination trial needed.

Olive Leaf Extract + Green tea extract EGCGTwo catechol-rich extracts competing for the same conjugation enzymes.

Olive phenolics and green tea catechins are both handled by UGT and SULT enzymes and both bind luminal minerals. Stacking them raises total mineral binding at that meal and loads shared conjugation capacity. The combination is common in antioxidant formulas, so the caveat is worth stating plainly. Established chemistry rather than a trial finding.

Olive Leaf Extract + ProbioticsEstablished bacterial hydrolysis of the parent glycoside.

A share of ingested oleuropein reaches the colon intact, where bacterial beta-glucosidases release the aglycone. Which phenols an individual absorbs therefore depends on their microbial community, and that varies widely. Co-supplying bacteria carrying those enzymes is a plausible route to more consistent conversion. Unmeasured as a combination.

Olive Leaf Extract + Whey protein isolateEstablished phenolic-protein binding.

Polyphenols bind milk and whey proteins through hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction, which reduces the free phenol available in the gut lumen. This is the same chemistry behind milk blunting the measured antioxidant capacity of tea. Taking an olive extract in a protein shake changes what is free at that moment. The binding itself is well characterised.

Olive Leaf Extract + Sunflower lecithinFormulation practice for dispersing phenolic aglycones.

The aglycone released from oleuropein is far less water soluble than the parent glucoside, so phospholipid dispersion is used to keep it available in the gut. Phytosome-style olive preparations are built on this. It is a delivery decision at the bench. Whether it changes anything measurable in a person has not been shown for olive leaf.

Oleuropein is a secoiridoid glucoside of hydroxytyrosol and elenolic acid. Removal of the glucose by intestinal and bacterial beta-glucosidases gives the aglycone, which is cleaved onward to hydroxytyrosol.

Absorbed olive phenolics are conjugated by UGT and SULT enzymes in the gut wall and liver within minutes, so plasma carries mostly glucuronides and sulfates rather than the free phenol.

Olive leaves, mostly left over from pruning and oil making, are dried and soaked to pull out the plant compounds. The liquid is cleaned up and concentrated, then measured so every capsule carries a stated amount of oleuropein.
